Andrea Evans, co-owner of Apple Yarns with her husband Andrew, created a knitting haven akin to "Cheers" for enthusiasts. Growing up in retail, she transitioned through interior design and marketing before founding Apple Yarns in 2007. Her passion for knitting led to a vibrant community hub where knitters gather, socialize, and craft.

Despite a busy schedule, Andrea knits constantly, often making gifts for her kids. Both she and Andrew foster a familial atmosphere in their shop, embodying a passion for knitting and community.

Jen and fellow WWIB member Katie Slottje are the co-owners and hosts of Evergreen Gardens. They have been good friends since college and in 2021, they joined forces to acquire this immaculate property.

From Biology majors at Westmont College, to excelling in the professional worlds of finance and nursing, they are thrilled to be working together on our own new venture.

Katie Slottje is owner of Evergreen Gardens event venue in Ferndale, WA. After working in corporate Finance for many years, she ventured into owning & running a small business at the end of 2021 so she could spend more time being creative and getting involved in her community. And she was finally able to leave corporate in August of 2023!

When Katie is not working on booking and hosting events, she volunteers at the Ferndale Food Bank and for the Sustainable Connections Food Recovery Program. She also supports and volunteers at Mountain Meets Farm, a local non-profit large animal rescue, and is slowly building her own hobby farm on the side. She is a lover of the outdoors, hiking, snowboarding, traveling, and DIY projects.

With over 8 years of specialized experience in obesity and weight management, Mikel holds the title of Certified Specialist in Obesity and Weight Management (CSOWM), driven by a passion for comprehensive transformation. Her academic journey includes degrees from the University of Florida and the University of North Florida, accompanied by accolades from Mayo Clinic and various awards.

The heartfelt gratitude expressed by patients and interns serves as the most meaningful recognition, affirming the positive impact she’s had. Beyond her professional pursuits, Mikel finds joy in outdoor exploration, particularly enamored by the Pacific Northwest since relocating from Florida. Indoors, she indulges in hard rock/metal, culinary experimentation, thrilling reads, and spends quality time with her mustachioed cat, Burt Reynolds.
