One of the primary ways Whatcom Women in Business celebrate the accomplishments of local women in our community is through our annual “Professional Woman of the Year” Award Banquet. This banquet is our major fund raising event for scholarships for the women of Whatcom County. Amid the many banquets held throughout the year, ours has become a highlight social event for the community with well over 250 attendees annually.
During the course of the banquet we hold a silent auction as well as raffles of donated goods and services, all of which help to provide our funding. Last year, WWiB was able to donate over $20,000 in educational scholarships to help women pursue higher levels of education and by doing so, we help these women support themselves, build their dreams and create businesses that support a strong local economy. Throughout the year, we also use these and other contributions to donate $5,000 to five local charities.
This is a tradition that we would like to continue and, with your support, we will succeed. By doing so, you also enhance your business exposure in the community. Our proven marketing campaign includes press releases, paid advertisements, social media postings and referrals from our current membership and award finalists.
